The CMS faculty and staff value building good working relationships with parents, and they work to keep parents informed about the work of the children. We encourage parents to contact their child's teacher whenever they have questions. Bi-weekly newsletters and other informative fliers are sent home in order to inform parents of school policies and activities and to offer theoretical articles. In addition, teachers issue progress reports during the year, and parents are welcome to observe the classes. Classroom teachers hold evening meetings for parents several times during each school year, covering orientation and curriculum, and we hold two Back-to-School evenings each year so that children have an opportunity to show their parents their favorite school work. There is a small circulating library in the office so that parents can become better informed about Montessori theory and child development in general.
All parents of CMS children are encouraged to become involved in the school. There are many opportunities for parents to volunteer: participating on PTO committees, serving on the Board of Trustees, driving/chaperoning children on school trips, helping with class gardens, providing an extra pair of hands in the Toddler class, or presenting an unusual lesson to one of the classes.
