One year's worth of work and preparation will come to fruition next week; five educators from Maryland will be at CMS to perform the school's AIMS accreditation. Our Faculty and Board will welcome them with a dinner Sunday evening. Beginning Monday morning, the team will observe all elements of our campus through Wednesday afternoon.
At 12:15 p.m., Wednesday, the visiting AIMS Committee will meet with the entire school staff for 15 minutes. I am looking for parents who can monitor our students from 12:15 p.m. to 12:30 p.m., on Wednesday. Please email mccarthy@chesapeake-montessori.com or call the office if you can help.
During this time, the school community can assist the staff by making an extra effort to drop off their children on time in the morning. Reminder: If you arrive after the staff has returned to their classrooms, you must walk your child to their room, and then come to the office to sign in your child.
Soon we all may be late because of snow and ice. If Anne Arundel Public Schools open late, CMS will open at 9:00 a.m. There will be no early morning care. If Anne Arundel Public Schools are closed, CMS is closed. There is an exception if Anne Arundel County schools are closed for multiple days. I will email the parents and staff as well as change the school's voice mail to indicate if CMS will continue to be closed for on going days.
While we may be closed for snow, we will definitely be open for the November 4, Open House from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00p.m. Please encourage perspective parents to take advantage of this opportunity to learn more about life here at CMS.
Those of you who have a toddler or primary child will be receiving a "child update" in the mail. The more comprehensive "conference report" will be given out at the Parent-Teacher Conferences in November. Elementary teachers will be doing a quick email or phone contact with parents during the month of October.
Finally, I want to draw attention to two of the many people who are so generous to CMS. Barbara Span Obert has done a terrific job of putting together welcome baskets for our AIMS visitors. These baskets are far from simple fruit baskets--but thoughtful baskets containing current and historical items related to our local community. This past year Karen Hargrove has not only managed her family, a full-time job, CMS Board membership, and CMS Development Committee membership, but also chaired our AIMS Committee. She has spent many hours ensuring that the many pages of our self-study are ready for the AIMS Visiting Committee. Thanks to both of you.
