Our Board of Trustees and the Strategic Planning Committee have been hard at work making long-range plans that will allow CMS to maintain its current strengths while developing improvements that will better serve our children. Carrying out our plan will be more feasible since we acquired the property next door. We plan to add a third Primary class, which will enable us to have more children feeding into our Elementary program. We also plan to add a second Lower Elementary class. Our two Lower Elementary classes will receive students from our three Primary classes, enabling us to have approximately 20-25 first-, second-, and third-year children in each Lower Elementary class. We will continue to have one Upper Elementary class, which will have approximately 25-30 fourth-, fifth-, and sixth-year children. It is our intent to build the two new classrooms in close proximity to existing classrooms, to maintain easy interaction between classes.
In addition to building two new classrooms, we plan to build a new, larger multi-purpose room, which will be in addition to the existing cabana multi-purpose room. This will provide more space for music and French classes as well as other school functions. A conference room, meeting rooms, and a separate staff workroom are also planned to accommodate an expanded staff. A portion of the new property will also be used for athletic fields and for additional parking.
Although this plan is still in its initial phases, we feel it will greatly enhance the ability of our staff to meet the needs of our students. As the Board of Trustees and the Strategic Planning Committee work to set a timetable, we look forward to your comments and support.
