In order to accommodate business and professional parents we offer a program with extended hours, from 7:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. Our before- and after-school programs are licensed by the Maryland Department of Human Resources.
This is a program to be consistent with the Montessori philosophy. Between 7:00 and 8:15 children gather in a large classroom with our early morning staff. In the afternoons between 12:00 and 3:15, younger children not yet ready for the advanced Primary work may stay for lunch in their classrooms and then may rest and nap in a special supervised area set apart for this. In the late afternoons from 3:15 until 6:00 there are opportunities for long stretches of outdoor play, and possibilities for movement activities, other indoor games and activities, and story reading. Between 3:15 and 5:00 the Toddler/Primary children and the Elementary children are in two separate groups, each with their own staff; the groups are combined after 5:00.
